With retro and bright artwork, we were expecting something quite different from MOTHXR’s new track ‘She Can’t Tell’, a surprisingly laid back jam that combines modern production and some deep lyricism. Repetitive synths, choruses and guitars make the song edge on to dark disco in places and the effect is something much softer and more stripped back than the UK’s Jungle, but not too dissimilar in direction. With album Centrefold coming out via French label Kitsune on 26^th February, MOTHXR are a great new addition to the label’s family. - SJ
